Dec 17th, 2017 / Featured Guest Violinist Dan Flonta
We are very excited to announce that our guest performer on Sunday, December 17th, 2017, 3pm will be violinist Dan Flonta. Our guest performer, Dan Flonta is a violinist and violin teacher residing in West Barnstable, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Native of Romania, he now lives on Cape Cod with his family, and he is an active member of the performing arts community on Cape Cod.. He is founder and first violinist of the Cape Cod String Quartet, regularly performs with the Cape Symphony, Falmouth Chamber Players and the Plymouth Philharmonic. He is on the Faculty of the Cape Conservatory and Sturgis Charter School. Mr. Dan Flonta earned his Master of Music in Violin Performance from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and his Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from The Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Mr. Flonta has performed extensively throughout Europe and North America. Some of the venues include The Berliner Philharmoniker Concert Hall and Chamber Music Hall, The Herodes Atticus Theater in Athens, Greece, The Norwalk Concert Hall, Troy Music Hall and the EMPAC Center in Troy, New York. A native of Romania, Mr. Flonta won an honorable mention at the George Georgescu International Violin Competition in Tulcea, Romania as well as a place at the prestigious Bach Academy Festival in Stuttgart, Germany under the artistic direction of Maestro Helmuth Rilling. In addition, Mr. Flonta was appointed Concert Master and Principal second Violin at several orchestras in Romania, Italy, Spain, Germany and The United States. Mr. Flonta’s teaching experience is vast and it includes positions with The Bowling Green State University in Ohio, Academy of Saint Joseph in Manhattan and The New York Conservatory of Music in Manhattan.

WRONG!
We are bringing you Open Mic Classical, a new experience in classical music, to help our community's musicians share their music with a friendly, supportive and appreciative audience.
Are you a doctor with a classical horn habit, or an orchestra member who misses playing in small ensembles? Are you an aspiring young student who doesn't ever get a chance to play with a pianist, but would like to develop your performing skills? Or a composer eager to try out your newest work?
Dust off your flugelhorn, oil your keys, drink your raw egg, and come share your talent in an intimate and casual atmosphere.
Admission is free, and classical musicians of all ages and levels are welcome.
Pianist on site is available on request to accompany you.
“Open Mic Classical” is brought to you by clarinetist Mónika Woods (winner of the Cape Symphony's 2013 Soloist Competition) and amateur violist and sculptor Robert Marcus representing First Parish Brewster, with Lucy Banner and Elizabeth Tipton as collaborative pianists.
It will be held at 3:00 pm on the third Sunday of every month through June at the Brewster Meeting House (1969 Main Street on Route 6A). Participants are asked to sign in at 2:45pm, rehearsal with pianist on request.
