Open Mic Classical Cape Cod (aka the mic-less open mic) / Sunday, December 20th, 2015 @ 3pm
Open Mic Classical (or the mic-less open mic) 3rd Sunday of the month, 3- 5pm @ First Parish Brewster UU Church 1969 Main St. Brewster, MA Let us know if you need a pianist, we can schedule one for you. (sign up at 2:45 pm)
We are very excited to announce our guest performer for December 20th, pianist/composer Kaeza Fearn.
Kaeza will be performing piano music by Liszt, and she will be presenting us some of her own compositions, for which she invited her father, pianist Ken Fearn to collaborate. If you never heard them play, you must attend. They are one of the most talented, knowledgable, and interesting musicians I had the honor to meet here on the Cape, through my friendship with pianist Deborah Geithner.
Ken Fearn is music director at the Orleans Historical Society, and has served on the faculty of music department at Smith College. He lives in Orleans with his wife, who is also a wonderful pianist.
Kaeza Fearn M.M. is a Boston-based pianist, composer and musician who also works in administratively supporting roles for organizations such as The Shift Network (Summits Coordinator) and Wintergreen Summer Music Festival.
On the faculty at the Cape Conservatory and Winchester Community Music School, she also serves as Music Director at a thriving Unitarian Universalist Church in Taunton, where in addition to leading worship music, she created an alternative service called Soulful Sundown.
On the Cape, she enjoys performing at the Orleans Historical Society and has also been heard in Falmouth in concert with her father, Ken Fearn, as well as with the Falmouth Chamber Players.
A sacred circle dancer for years, Kaeza facilitates classes, workshops and an ongoing group in Circle Dance Meditation. She leads a monthly community sing and delights in collaborating with musicians in performing various styles of music, especially classical and kirtan. To learn more about Kaeza, and to hear her music visit her website at: www.kaezafearn.com
An “Open Mic” is for popular music only, right?
WRONG!
On December 20th, 2015 at 3:00 pm, we are bringing you Open Mic Classical, a new experience in classical music, to help our community's musicians share their music with a friendly, supportive and appreciative audience.
Are you a doctor with a classical horn habit, or an orchestra member who misses playing in small ensembles?
Are you an aspiring young student who doesn't ever get a chance to play with a pianist, but would like to develop your performing skills? Or a composer eager to try out your newest work?
Dust off your flugelhorn, oil your keys, and come share your talent in an intimate and casual atmosphere.
Admission is free, and classical musicians of all ages and levels are welcome.
Pianist on site is available to accompany you.
“Open Mic Classical” is brought to you by clarinetist Mónika Woods (winner of the Cape Symphony's 2013 Soloist Competition) and amateur violist and sculptor Robert Marcus representing First Parish Brewster, with Lucy Banner and Elizabeth Tipton as collaborative pianists.
It will be held at 3:00 pm on the third Sunday of every month through June at the Brewster Meeting House (1969 Main Street on Route 6A). Participants are asked to sign in at 2:45pm, rehearsal with pianist on request.
